Lesvos is in Greece's northern Aegean Sea, overlooking the Turkish coastline. The Aeolian village has been built in typical Aegean style, with extensive grounds that give the hotel a wonderful feeling of space. Situated at one end of a beautiful bay on a long stretch of fine golden sand.

The charming village of Skala Eressos is a ten minute walk along the beach with quaint cafes, restaurants and bars built on bamboo-covered decks extending out over the sand on stilts - the perfect place to enjoy some traditional Greek hospitality.

Most of the staff are great, friendly and helpful. As with most things in life it is the minority that spoil it for the rest. The bar staff in my opinion had a serious case of end of season apathy. Cocktails were poor to say the least, measures were short, unless you were a member of staff then you got a bit extra. It was commented on numerous occassions that the staff get to drink the bar dry at the end of the season, perhaps they were saving up all their short measures.
George and his staff were amazing, as for his food, it was all utterly delicious. A credit to all involved, their dedication is clear for all to see.
The beach staff tried their best, even with their rapidly deminishing kit. My partner finally got me to have a go a windsurfing, only to be greated by "all the kit is in use , there is no free sailing" My response "there are no places available to learn!" Stalemate.
Must be a ploy to book another holiday, next time I will ensure all the rules are bent in my favour, just to ensure that I get a turn.
As for the waterski team (all of them) thanks to all their patience,I finally got the hang of it. Excellent team work.

This year's Lesvos staff lived up to the high standards expected of a Neilson holiday. All were committed and enthusiastic about their jobs which makes for a great holiday for us customers. For the three sports I took part in on this trip: Adam and Jordan were great tennis coaches for my ability, a 'can hit the ball but that is about it' level player, in the end of week competition I never double faulted, excellent; dingy sailing was at the intermediate level with Hannah and Will, a great time was had even when the wind only just about blew on one session; the chuckle brothers, Dan and Phil, gave a solid week of instruction pole dancing, I mean non-planing windsurfing, I now no longer need the dagger board and can hook-in. The wife also had a great time with the ski team, getting the 'enthusiastic' award at the end of the week. So as you can see we had a great time. Many people make comment on the long transfer, we found it no problem at all, which as the wife is not a good traveller was good. We didn't find it any more problematic than the usual ski report transfers. So with all this glowing stuff why not 5 stars? the main thing that lost the top grade was equipment. With it getting to the end of the season there was a general lack of serviceable equipment, I know why that is but that doesn't help when the resort is full and people can't free sail or are not allowed onto classes due to there being no spare dingy. The staff do their best but in the end if there is not enough equipment there is a limit to what they can do. I also know at one point they were also under staffed on the beach (probably trying hard to give those 70+ beginner/improver dingy sailors a lesson). The end of my week also saw those on RYA courses faced with either no log books to buy, or no certificates if they had log books. Hopefully these items are an anomaly, I like the way these are holidays are and having been away before on the first week of the season when all the equipment was ready and usable was great. We will be back. Mark & Gill (the breakfast fairy...)

Half-way through a 2 week break in Lesvos and hugely enjoying. Great variety of activities, staff friednly and helpful, good food. However 'Neilson' please get your act together re equipment. There is plenty here but a significant proportion is damaged / out of use, which is not a problem on previous Neilson or Mark Warner holidays I have been on. For example, I have heard several quests say there is insufficent useable windsurfing equipment to get all who want to do it out on the water for classes. The mountain bikes are very short on disposables meaning that several of the 19" frames are out of use and people have been (unnecessarily) required to go out on the wrong size frame if they want to go on the guided tours. The problem seems especially acute when it comes to disk brake pads. So come on Neilson this just needs a few pounds spent on repair kits and disposables that will ensure that your quests get the enjoyment out the holidays the deserve and would earn you that extra star!
