Water Activities

Take your pick from dinghy sailing, windsurfing, water skiing, wakeboarding, kayaking and paddle boarding, all these water sports are included in your holiday to Messini Beach Club.

Our activity planner shows what is available and how to plan your week at Messini Beach Club.

Dinghy sailing

Dinghy sailors have a more laid-back start if they choose to. Head down to the beach around midday or after lunch, when the breeze kicks in, to make the most of the sailing and large sailing area.

All dinghy sailing tuition follows the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) teaching scheme, so you'll be progressing in a safe and fun way. If you're after a few pointers, just sign up for the group sessions with one of the team, they'll advise you of the right group for your level.

Dinghy sailing equipment: Topper Topaz 16, RS Cat 16, Laser Dart 16, Laser Bahia, Topper Argo, Laser Pico, RS Zest, Laser 1

Windsurfing

Messini is a great spot for windsurfers of all abilities, with the excellent sailing area offering a great spot for all abilities. Beginners will love the calm water in the mornings. When the breeze picks up in the afternoon, take advantage of the conditions and get the endorphins flowing by really blasting across the bay.

Like dinghy sailing, windsurfing tuition follows the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) teaching scheme - the safest and most fun scheme for all learners.

Windsurfing equipment: a range of beginner, intermediate (160-130 litres) and shortboards from manufacturers Starboard, Fanatic and RRD. Dino and Kid Joy rigs for children (2m-4.5m); start rigs for beginners (2.5m / 3.5m / 4.5m); adult rigs (4m - 8.2m)

Tennis and Pickleball

With 7 newly resurfaced tennis courts (shared with Buca Beach Club), you'll be able to enjoy plenty of coaching and free play.

If you're a regular player, know your way around the court and want to get more from your game, you should check out the premium tennis pack for some more intensive coaching. This includes 2 hours of group coaching plus super drill sessions for 5 days and a 30-minute private coaching session. With just 8 places in the group, we recommend pre-booking premium tennis before travel to guarantee your spot.

Mark Petchey, ex-GB tennis player and Andy Murray's former coach will be joining us for an exclusive week of coaching from  7-14 September 2025 for a fantastic week of coaching for all abilities.

And for something new, why not try the fun sport of pickleball. Pickleball combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. We have 6 courts alongside our tennis courts.

We provide a selection of adult and child rackets from Wilson.

The site is about an hour from the Beach Club with more than 30 bolted climbing routes. The minimum age to climb is 8 years and all children under the age of 15 years must be accompanied by an adult (either climbing or spectating).

Fitness and swimming

Back at the club, stretch and relax or push it to the max with a high-energy class on the fitness deck by the beach. There's also a functional fitness studio with a rig, slam balls, core bags, med balls, dumbells and resistance bands, plus a dedicated indoor cycling studio and Les Mills BODYPUMP™️ classes.

Cool off in the large (approx. 50m) swimming pool, try out fresh new swim sessions, or make a splash in open water. Feel like leveling up, add on some swim coaching for that little bit extra!

Wind conditions

The wind typically picks up around midday, blowing on-shore most days, with cross on-shore conditions on windier days. The typical wind force ranges from 3-4 with the most consistent conditions in June, July and August.

Rest and relaxation

The wellness area is a calming retreat, where you can book a massage, facial or manicure to relax and unwind. Spa packages can be pre-booked before you travel, saving money on the in-resort prices, and leaving you some extra cash for a cocktail or 2. Of course, you could just seek out a quiet spot around the pool or on the beach and finish that book you've been meaning to since last summer!

It's easy to build up an appetite, but you won't go hungry. The large, shaded outdoor terrace of the restaurant is a great place to eat. There's a great choice of delicious Mediterranean treats or more familiar buffet dishes to tempt you.

Our inclusive meal nights are on Saturday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and you will dine in our buffet restaurant. On non-inclusive evenings, don't forget to join us for our BBQ night where our chefs will be cooking up a storm, enjoy a pizza or burger from the pool bar, or head out to one of a handful of local tavernas further along the beach.

Rooms

With the garden rooms, you get stylish bathrooms, sleek minimalist furnishings, wooden floors and cool, muted colours. Contemporary bathrooms in cool marble have large walk-in showers. A large picture window looking over the bedroom is a quirky feature of the bathrooms, there is however a handy blind to protect your modesty.

The ground-floor rooms have a lovely terrace with direct access to the lawns, those on the first floor have a balcony (premium rooms have two balconies). Garden room types include twin rooms, double or interconnecting rooms and 'premium' double rooms.

The hotel rooms are closest to the pool and restaurant. Light and airy, there's a simple, contemporary elegance from the stylish bathrooms with walk-in showers (some also have baths) to the bedrooms with smart features throughout. Sunny balconies look over the pool, beach or the surrounding countryside. Hotel rooms include twin, double and interconnecting rooms or sea-view suites.

All rooms have air conditioning, a fridge, tea and coffee making facilities, telephone, TV, safe, beach towels and hairdryer. There's free Wi-Fi in the public areas and most of the rooms.

Local tourist taxes are payable by you when you check out of Messini Beach Club. The charge is €10 per room per night (correct as of March 2024).

Families and children

The short transfer and spacious, flat layout, with plenty of wide-open paths and gardens, make Messini Beach Club an ideal choice for families. The beach is long and sandy, perfect for sandcastle building and there's a children's pool, play area and even a giant chess board which children just love. We also have a selection of bikes for children from 3-6 years. These bikes are available to use in and around the Beach Club grounds, but cannot be taken outside of the Beach Club.

Then there's the full range of activity-packed clubs for children from 2 all the way through to 17 years. Our youngest guests (4 to 23 months) will love the Starfish crèche (available as a supplement). Make sure your children don't miss out, pre-book before you go to secure a space in the club they want.

For those of you travelling with babies or toddlers don't forget to ask about cots, baby baths and pushchairs. There's even a 24-hour baby room, where you can make feeds, warm milk and sterilise bottles. You'll love the interconnecting and family rooms too.

10 and 11-night holidays

10-night holidays arrive on a Saturday and depart on a Tuesday, you will join the Sunday morning welcome meeting with our 7 and 14-night guests. 11-night holidays arrive on a Tuesday and depart on a Saturday, there’s a welcome meeting on Wednesday morning for 11-night guests.

Activity sessions can be booked in the welcome meetings, with taster windsurf and dinghy sailing sessions for complete beginners. If you want to water ski or wakeboard you'll get 3 inclusive tows (weather conditions permitting and non-transferable). For both 10 and 11-night holidays, evening meals are included for 6 evenings. Kids' clubs are available every day with the exception of Saturday (which is the main transfer day).

Local area

Step outside the Beach Club and you'll know you're in rural Greece as the immediate area is fairly sleepy. Steeped in history and tradition, there are many places to visit and discover, with lush verdant valleys, endless sandy beaches, hidden coves and sheltered bays as well as small rural villages set into the slopes of the Taygetus Mountains.

In contrast, the lively, cosmopolitan city of Kalamata has a lot going on. The dramatic Taygetus Mountain range frames the city and the waterfront is lined with tavernas, restaurants and bars. Culture vultures will be in their element. You could catch a play or music performance in the open-air venue of the historic 13th century ‘Castle of Isabeau'. The old town around the Kastro is beautiful with lots of interesting shops to explore. If you can time your trip so that you visit on a Wednesday or Saturday then you will be able to enjoy market day, a spectacular display of fresh produce from the region.

Dyros Caves

Only discovered in 1958 the Dyros caves were found to contain ceramics, tools, silver and bones dating all the way back to the Neolithic age. A visit to the caves is made extra special by the presence of the underground lake, you take a small boat into the cavern and complete the journey on foot.

Ancient Messenia

Just 30 minutes from Messini you will find the hidden archaeological site of ancient Messini. Built into the foothills of Mount Ithomi, surrounded by Mount Eva and Mount Psoriari. This fortified city protected the ancient Messenians for countless years and parts of the original outer wall from the summit along the mountains ridge remain today complete with several of the original lookout towers. You can follow the remains through the olive groves and past orchards or visit the archaeological museum and discover more about the history of ancient Greece.

Poliliminio Waterfalls

Walk approximately 3 kilometres through the olive groves and vineyards to the waterfalls and refreshing lake formations at the base of the falls. From the waterfalls, you can follow the gorge downhill, where you end up in a cave. The waterfalls are the perfect spot to see some local wildlife (there are butterfly's in abundance) and cool off with a swim.
