To ski or snowboard?
Trying to pick between skiing and snowboarding, it’s all about what you want to do. Ask a skier, and skiing’s the bees knees, ask a boarder and you’ll get the opposite story, obviously.
Here's a quick tip: If you used to skateboard, snowboarding might feel like second nature. More at home on rollerskates or ice skates, skiing’s probably going to be a good fit. Whatever you choose, you’re signing up for one seriously epic ride.
What to expect
Trying something new can be a bit daunting, but let’s be honest – it’s also massively fun, especially when that “something new” involves cruising down a mountain. Just remember, everyone around you has been a newbie at some point.
We’re here to break down what your first week on the slopes will look like. You’ll get the lowdown on all the essentials, like what gear you’ll need, what to expect from your lessons, and how to stay warm (hint: it’s all in the layers).
We’re right here with you every step of the way, so if you’ve got questions, big or small – get in touch!
What to take
Like all holidays, you need to make sure you've got what you need. A ski or snowboard holiday is no different - you just may not know what you need yet.
To help out, we've put together some what to pack tips to ensure you're fully prepared for your arrival in the snow. Tips like what to bring/not to bring, some of the lingo and what things you need to book in before you go.
Follow these tips and you'll look like a pro on the snow in no time!
Where to learn
The choice of resorts is pretty big, but don't worry - we'll help you choose the perfect place to learn to ski.
Not all resorts are the best for beginners, you'll need to keep an eye out for plenty of green and blue runs, ideal for a smoother start. Les Menuires and Val d'Isère in France are great options with over 50% of beginner friendly runs on the ski map. El Tarter in Andorra has excellent ski and snowboard schools and wide open runs but regardless of where you choose, you will learn with experienced instructors and stunning views to keep you inspired and ready for more.
Ski or board pack bundles for beginners
Before you hit the slopes, there's a few things you need to sort out. Lift passes, skis or snowboard and the all important lessons. Tough to ski or board without these.
To make it easier for you as it's a lot to take in, we offer handy bundles and the best part is they save time and cash. You can book everything in advance and the prices are not available once in resort, so we recommend locking them in before you head off!
We're here, if you need us
Everyone is different. We've been looking after skiers and snowboarders for over 40 years now, and have given advice and support to them all. Some just wanted tips, others needed their hands held all the way. That's what we're here for.
From the first call or email to the final (teary) goodbye on the coach back to the airport, we're here for any questions you may have. You can get hold of us by calling 0333 014 3351.
And remember, there's no such thing as a silly question.
