On a sunny day, the kids will love chilling out with these cool mocktails and treat-packed milkshakes. They’re all big beachclub favourites with our younger guests but super-easy to make at home too for a taste of that holiday vibe.
Shirley Temple mocktail recipe
You’ll need lemonade, orange juice and grenadine to conjure up this sunrise in a glass! Grenadine is a fruit syrup that adds an extra layer of fun. It’s often found in the alcohol section in supermarkets but it’s definitely alcohol-free, so suitable for children.
Fill a third of the glass with orange juice, then add lemonade almost to the top. Leave a cm or two so there’s room for the grenadine. Slowly and very carefully add the grenadine syrup. It should sink to the bottom to create a red layer, with the orange on top – a little like a sunset, da dah!
Jungle Juice mocktail recipe
Our very own blend of juices, straight from the Congo! This is an ever-popular treat for the kids, when they’re cooling down between action-packed activities in club. A blend of pineapple juice, orange juice, soda water, a squeeze of lime and a sprig of mint makes for a refreshing summer taste. Add a couple of slices of orange to the top for that extra touch of sunshine!
Cherry Hurricane mocktail recipe
A fizzy cola treat with a cherry twist. This one is best served super-cold, with lots of crushed ice. Add your favourite brand of cola, almost to the top of the glass then add sour cherry juice for extra zing.
Milkshake recipes
You’ll need a blender or food processor for these summery treats. A little indulgent but easily justified on a warm day!For the milkshake base, we recommend using 3 large scoops of ice-cream, 300ml of milk and a few cubes of ice. You can then add flavours and extras into the mix as you please! Here are a few of our favourites…
Oreo blast Blend your vanilla ice cream, milk and ice together with 3 Oreo cookies. Top it off with chocolate flakes.
Cookie Dough Pop Cookie Dough or Cookies & Cream ice cream, ice and milk in the blender. Into the glass then top it off with whipped cream and sprinkles.
Rainbows & unicorns Use strawberry ice-cream, milk and ice as your base. A colourful combo of mini marshmallows, hundreds & thousands will add a little magic to the top.
Banana split Place vanilla ice-cream, milk and 2 chopped bananas into the blender and whizz it all up until smooth. Pour into a tall glass and finish it off with whipped double cream and a pinch of cinnamon.
