You'll find the Micolau chalet hotel in the perfectly-formed resort of Arinsal. It's one of the oldest buildings in Arinsal, but you wouldn't know it from the funky décor. Local stone and solid wooden beams are accentuated by brightly coloured feature walls and contemporary furnishings to create a fun and relaxed vibe.
The small bar (which doubles as the dining room) is decorated in the same kind of style and becomes a real focal point after the slopes close. Grab a drink and a slice of cake whilst catching up with friends and family about your day's exploits on the mountain. After freshening up, head to the dining area for a filling and hearty three-course evening meal, complete with complimentary wine.
You couldn't be in a more central location within Arinsal. There's a huge choice of bars and restaurants on your doorstep, literally! The (soundproofed) Derby Bar is next door and the Comapedrosa bar is almost opposite. Walk a little further around the corner and you'll be at the main Arinsal gondola. It's around a one-minute walk from the hotel.
You'll find plenty of services at the top of the gondola too. Your pick up any rental ski or board kit from there, pre-booked ski school meets there and even a creche for families looking for childcare. It also makes a good meeting point for your group at lunch. Being virtually tax-free means lunches are very reasonably priced in Arinsal.
The Micolau is the perfect choice if you're a group of friends or family (or both) looking for a laid-back, friendly holiday with great value and superb hospitality from your Neilson hosts thrown in.

About the resort...
Arinsal is the perfect place for beginners and families as there are plenty of nursery slopes, a superb British-run ski and board school and plenty of après-ski activities. Even though there's only 63km of pistes, improvers, intermediates and even the advanced will be tested at points. Hop on a bus and head to nearby Arcalis for some fantastic off-piste and even a couloir or two.
Off the mountain, Arinsal is small and friendly with a good choice of restaurants, a few shops and several lively bars to choose from. There are also a smattering of late-night bars and discos for the night owls.
Off-slope activities are easy to get to. Amazing shopping (and virtually tax-free) in the nation's capital, Andorra La Vella is only a 20 minute bus ride away. Alternatively, you could relax in the thermal waters of Caldea, a lush indoor thermal water lagoon with a spa area that's easy to love.
Ski biking is definitely a unique activity to give a go - the equipment is, you guessed it, a mix of a bike and a pair of skis.

Food and drink
Our chalet board basis is designed for skiers and boarders. Breakfast is a fairly extensive affair with cooked and continental options every day. Your daily afternoon tea of freshly baked cakes and biscuits will be waiting for you when you come in from the slopes.
Evening meals are a three-course set-menu with regionally inspired dishes and served with complimentary wine, all followed by fresh coffee. We provide evening meals on six nights a week to leave you free to head out and explore the resort on one evening.
Rooms
This is one of our cosiest chalet hotels, but at the Micolau, cosy doesn't mean small as each of the nine bedrooms is a nice size with plenty of storage for your luggage.
All rooms have more funky colours and comfy beds plus a flatscreen TV, free Wi-Fi, hairdryer and minisafe. There's also a full ensuite with over-bath shower and wc.
Neilson Mountain Experts
Don’t forget that you get free guiding and coaching throughout the week from fully qualified ski and board instructors with our Mountain Expert service.
Designed for confident blue and red-run skiers and snowboarders, they'll show you around the mountain on free guiding sessions, and even offer free coaching sessions to help you become a more confident skier or snowboarder.
There are at least three sessions a week and we guarantee each guest at least two sessions a week. Your hosts will explain how it works when you get there.
