An Andorran Ski Adventure

Let’s start with the travel. Neilson really makes it simple. From the moment we landed, it was all sorted transfers to the resort were smooth, and the reps were there to help with anything. Picking up the ski gear was quick and easy too, which is always a relief.

The welcome meeting on day one was really handy. Loads of useful info and a nice, relaxed vibe—just a good way to kick things off. 

Now, the Neilson Mountain Experts are a bit of a game-changer. These sessions aren’t just for beginners - they’re for anyone who wants to make the most of their time on the slopes.

We joined a couple of their guided runs, and the difference it made was massive. They know all the best routes and give great advice. Plus, it’s a good laugh, and we met some lovely people in the group. Skiing’s always better when you can laugh about your epic wipeouts in the bar afterwards. 

The Hotel Del Clos was ideal for us; the rooms are a good size, and there are some lookouts with views of the piste. It’s close to the gondola, which is always a big plus, and there are shops and restaurants nearby if you fancy venturing out.

After a day on the slopes, it was great to come back to the hotel. The buffet food was excellent - plenty of variety - and the afternoon tea was a nice touch. Evenings were spent in the lounge, chatting with other guests. It’s just a nice, sociable place to be.  

Andorra surprised me, to be honest. The slopes are fantastic—plenty of variety, whether you’re a beginner or looking for more of a challenge. I signed up for a 5-day advanced snowboarding lesson, and it was well worth it. The small group meant the instructor could give loads of personal feedback, and it really helped me improve.

It’s not just about the skiing, though. We tried husky sledding, which was a bit surreal but brilliant, and spent an afternoon at Caldea, the local thermal spa. Sitting in an outdoor Jacuzzi with the mountains around you? That’s something special.

I’m not the biggest party animal, but I do like a bit of après-ski, and Andorra delivers. L’Abarset was our go-to—great atmosphere, live DJs, and proper good food. If you’re after something a bit more refined, the Veuve Clicquot bar was a nice treat. Champagne and mountain views—it’s hard to complain, really.  

One thing Neilson does really well is the social side of things. The events at the hotel were great fun. We had a laugh at the Bingo Disco (didn’t expect to enjoy that as much as I did), and the wine tasting was a nice way to unwind after a day on the slopes. By the end of the week, we’d made a good few friends, which is always a bonus. 

Neilson holidays just take the hassle out of everything. From the travel to the skiing to the social events, it’s all thought through.
